Community engagement and awareness serves as a lifeline for conflict-affected people of South Sudan. With this flagship program, South Sudan Economic Freedom Advocacy (SSEFA) is empowering the Sudanese people to make crucial decisions that impact their well-being, safety, and livelihood.
Effective community engagement & awareness plays a pivotal role for people to seamlessly connect with service providers and with one another. We, at SSEFA, are offering these individuals with economic aid to address the funding gaps in South Sudan. Our aim is to build the capacity of humanitarian workers to respond to these increasing needs. Our community engagement and awareness network & leadership will assist the country’s policy-makers to mobilise practitioners in the priority areas of South Sudan.
Our Community Engagement Process
Our community engagement & awareness processes encompass six core areas. These include:
- Pre-Investment Planning: Helping communities to prepare for sustainable future investments with careful planning.
- Community Consultations: Foster improved communication between local communities and government officials to avoid local resentment and future social unrest.
- Participatory Monitoring: Assisting the host communities and companies to collaboratively identify and solve investment-related issues by implementing monitoring programs.
- Participatory Impact Assessments (PIA): Incorporating awareness and community engagement to better understand local problems, predict and offer remedies to avoid negative impacts.
- Community Financial Management (CFM): Promoting transparency and accountable administrative system where communities can take full advantage of appropriate budgeting & investment revenue channels.
- Grievance Mechanisms: Peacefully addressing the grievances of community complaints, and providing quick and adequate reparation to the individuals harmed from business activities.
